Frequently asked questions
SHORT CIRCUIT ANALYSIS
POWER SYSTEM ANALYSIS /SHORT CIRCUIT COORDINATION STUDY
Power system analyses are an essential part of electrical power system design. Calculations and simulations are performed to verify that the electrical system, including the system components, are correctly specified to perform as intended, withstand expected stress and be protected against failures.
International standards and local regulations are used as basis for robust system designs. They include requirements and recommendations for protection of personnel and equipment, system response and equipment performance. Together with equipment ratings, regulations and standards form the basis for evaluation of calculation and simulation results.
We utilize several software packages for power system analyses. Calculations and simulation using phasors as well as instantaneous quantities are performed. Instantaneous quantities are typically used when higher accuracy or higher level of detailing is required.
Power system analysis include:
Load flow analyses
Short circuit and fault analyses
Protective device co-ordination and settings
Dynamic and transient analyses
Switching over voltages and insulation co-ordination
